For two projects funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG), the UFZ Department of Computational Landscape Ecology looking for aplicants for a PhD positions on fields of biogeography and community ecology. The first project seeks to analyze the limatic niche of the world’s mammals and then relate it to their phylogeny. Thereby the evolution of realized climate niches shall be reconstructed. The second project, which is subject to final funding confirmation, will test the idea of fluctuating hydrological conditions in grasslands as a basis for plant species diversity.
