Place: National Bee Diagnostics Centre (at Beaverlodge Research Farm, Alberta)
CANPOLIN researchers have made great progress in building the nation’s diagnostic capacity for honeybee pests and pathogens, and this diagnostic capability is now being transferred to the new state of the art National Bee Diagnostics Centre (NBDC) at Beaverlodge Research Farm. Through NSERC's Strategic Network Enhancement Initiative, CANPOLIN has received funds to hold a short course in diagnostic training for graduate students working in the field of bee health. The 5-day course will be held at the NBDC in Beaverlodge, AB, and provide training in molecular techniques developed by Network researchers to identify and/or quantify bee pathogens including Nosema spp, viruses and American Foulbrood. (For a course agenda, please contact sbates@uoguelph.ca). To apply, please send the following information to sbates@uoguelph.ca by March 29, 2013. http://www.uoguelph.ca/canpolin/Courses/courses.html
